When I started planning our 52 hikes for the year, I knew I wanted to do one on New Years Day. However, what I didn’t plan on was below freezing temperatures. I know that 30 degrees is not that bad compared to many others in the northern part of the country, but it is pretty cold for those of us who have lived in the south their whole life.
Although we are not big fans of the cold, I was able to convince the family to get out for a quick hike. We went to one of Georgia’s State Parks that we hike frequently and enjoyed a short hike in the cold weather. The part of the trail we hiked goes over a dam and it is one of the boys’ favorite parts to hike. While the hike started out cloudy, the sun slowly started to appear.
As usual the boys found ways to have fun.
