Sugar Cube Igloos

Way back in 2011 I set Thing 1 loose with some sugar cubes to see what he would create. (Click on the link to see 4-year-old Thing 1 in action.) Today, over 6 years later, I set him, his brothers and homeschool friends loose with some sugar cubes again. (Just FYI, there were some of the exact cubes that I used 6 years ago.) This time instead of having complete freedom, the kids were to see if they could build an igloo out of sugar cubes.

1. Give the kids the given supplies then challenge them to build an igloo.

While  many kids had a great idea at the start, where things really fell apart was when it came to the roof. Let’s just say that we were going to have some very cold Eskimos.

Despite being unsuccessful at building an igloo, the kids had a great time.

After the kids were done building, they sat down and watched a short video about igloos that I found on YouTube.
